Side Wins
With two business partners, I helped organize and host 30+ vendor booths at recurring First Friday events. contributions included guerrilla marketing, writing website copy, purchasing insurance, ordering porta-potties, and setting up electricity for vendors.
Key Win: My go-to-market strategy organically sold out booth inventory within 24 hours.
This redefined my understanding of what it feels like to be an immigrant in a country without a shared common language. By 2021, I learned how to speak elementary Russian and begun assimilating with the slavic people.
Key Win: I am a comprehensive communicator with non-native english speakers - my use of hand gestures, slowed speech, facial reading (to guage understanding), and refining sentences enables my conversation partner to clearly understand (and collaborate) with me.
Out of stubbornness on my part, the only thing that I didn’t manage to sell was a solitary box of clothes. Hundreds of diverse listings were sold on Facebook - from spices, to toiletries, and everything else in between. By the time I left Colorado in May 2019, All I had was a small suitcase with a camera, my laptop, and some clothes.
Key Win: My 2011 Macbook Pro was the key resource that allowed me to build an online business and funded my travels through 17 countries.
